Safari guides Professionals Association Of Kenya was registered by the government of Kenya in June 2019 and was given recognition by the ministry tourism and wildlife in November 2019.

SGPAK   Membership

  1. Any person with documentary evidence that he/she has been operating as a safari guide for a minimum period of three years and shall, subject to the approval of the committee. The same person shall show intent to support the association’s continuous learning programs as well as the vision and mission.
  2. Any person over the age of eighteen years and holds the required academic and safety qualifications shall be eligible for membership of the association and shall, subject to the approval of the committee, become a member upon application.

 “To develop and promote the Kenyan tourism and travel industry with the highest standards of Service, ethics, and professionalism’’.

SGPAK  Objectives

  • To effectively represent and promote the general interests of safari guides in the national, regional, and international travel and tourism industry.

In order to achieve this mission and objective, Safari Guide Professional Association will strive to:

  • Make representations on behalf of the Members to the government and any organizations with which the Association has a common interest;
  • Nominate from among Members, representatives to serve on committees related to tourism and travel industry, either locally or internationally;
  • Set and raise benchmarking standards within safari guiding fraternity. These will be achieved through;
  • Continuously reflecting and analyzing safari guiding standards.
  • Encouraging and developing mentorship programs
  • Setting the safari guiding association members’ standards.
  • Developing a winning routine.
  • Going the extra mile in service delivery.
  • Establish and maintain a Code of Conduct between Members and the general public and between Members and those with whom they trade;
  • The study, develop and promote the tourism and travel industry;
  • Discourage unfair competition without interfering in any way with initiatives and enterprise based on fair trading;
  • Protect the interest of the Members of this Association from malpractices of foreign tour operators;
  • Organize or participate in conventions, seminars and other such activities relating to tourism and travel industry;
  • Encourage social activities, which will promote understanding and goodwill among all stakeholders;
  • Promote friendly relations and collaboration with relevant organizations, both in and outside Kenya;
  • Take all such action as may be necessary to improve the image of the Association and its Members;
  • Promote the conservation of culture, flora, and fauna.
  • Support any charitable organization or purpose that would further the objective of the Association;
  • Apply or promote any law, regulations, other legislative, or public policy measures with a view to attaining the objective of the Association and promotion of tourism.
  • Do all such things as the Association may deem incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them; and
  • Improve the quality of tourism and travel services by providing Members and other related organizations with effective training and use of information technology tools.
